Voronsky’s Correspondence

Letters to and from Voronsky in Chronological Order

When Voronsky was arrested for the last time on February 1, 1937, the NKVD confiscated three large sacks of manuscripts, letters, and other material. Relatively few letters, therefore, have survived. 59 letters between Voronsky and Gorky were published in Volume X, Book 2 of the "Gorky Archive" in 1965. 83 more letters which were not destroyed were published by E. A. Dinershtein in volume 93 of the series, «Литературное наследство» [Literary Heritage] in 1983. Several letters come from the Voronsky family archive in Moscow. A handful of letters were published in literary journals over the years. In addition, a few scattered items continue to appear in the archives of various writers and political figures.
